I really don't like all the advertising PB has been doing lately. I feel like they're exploiting their user base.

dud, where you get information like that, i mean this is big discount, like 50% from all helmets!!!! This is good that they advertise these kinda stuff... But on the other hand, i agree with you, i live pretty far from everyone, and have seen only 2 Estonian news on the list...

Terrafire, Do you have any idea how much this site must cost to run? A few ads for the stacks of free content we receive is a pretty sweet deal!

90% of the content here is the same content that you could get from the website's RSS feeds. Im not saying I dislike the free content. But does Pinkbike HAVE to use news articles to boost revenue? There's already tons of ads on the front page.

Maybe Pinkbike just want to let the people know what's going on in their bike community. After all, if you live or lived in Calgary would you not be excited to hear about a sale?

Terrafire, ads are part of life - I ask do you have to pay to read this site? Nope so you are free to pick and choose which articles to read. Should you not want to read something ad related - skip it and your comments about how it makes you feel inside.

Are you suggesting that you dont want your user's opinions?

 Hi Terrafire,
Feedback is a great thing, part of my job is following what people are saying about us, trying to see if we are doing a good job. I try in my limited entries on Pinkbike to inform, put forward Bow Cycle's POV, try to find employees, and on occasion sell. I try to keep the selling to a minimum and I am sorry to have offended you with it. That being said, Pinkbike is a great method for businesses to directly contact people who we think will have great interest in our products.

If my memory serves me correctly, didnt Pinkbike start in calgary? if so, they have a pretty good reason to post the sales of calgary's biggest bike shop.

Terrafire, although I understand where you are coming from but this site needs revenue and to get that revenue they need to advertise. My question to you is this; Would you rather the users have to pay a monthly/yearly fee to keep the site running or would you rather have companies front the bill and give us free content about what is happening in the mountain bike world and a place to discuss really anything whether it be biking related or not. If you chose option one I honestly don't know how to feel. Not to mention that this is actually helping the biking industry, the shop and the local riding scene here. I don't know about you but I can't always pay full price and really like to hear about sales locally or just about stuff happening locally so to me as a calgarian this advertisement is really helpful. It will also help grow the sport locally by informing the community so people who can't afford the full price can potentially buy a part, bike etc. and make the community bigger.

Advertisements on this site keep the sport growing and allow the companies that provide our gear the ability to progress and come up with better technology. I can bear a few ads in exchange for the amount that they really help the biking community and industry.

Any and all biking related news Pinkbike can bring to all of is is useful. Paid advertisements keep the site going. I would prefer a shop advertise in this manner than by filling the buy and sell with their products.

Wow.. that's a sale like nips on a rack. I am impressed, how ever saddened that even at the Toronto International Bike Show.. they didn't have a deal close to any of this. Come teach our shops ? Smile

I hit this sale last year, I saved a couple hundred bucks. It's the best sale I've ever seen.
